Jon Savage is an author, film maker and curator. His books include England’s Dreaming (Sex Pistols and Punk Rock), Teenage (The Creation of Youth 1875-1945), 1966 (The Year the Decade Exploded) and most recently This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else (Joy Division: The Oral History). His writing credits on films include The Brian Epstein Story (BBC Arena 1998), Teenage (directed by Matt Wolf, 2007) and 1966: It was Fifty Years Ago (directed by Paul Tickell, BBC Arena 2016). He has released a dozen or so compilations, including 1969-71: Rock Dreams on 45 (Ace), Do You Have The Force (Jon Savage’s Alternate History Of Electronica 1978-82) (Caroline True) and Meridian 1970 (Heavenly). 2021 will see the republication of 1966, Teenage and England’s Dreaming in new editions by Faber and Faber, and the release of Jon Savage’s 1972-76 on 45: All Our Times Have Come (Ace). His Boogaloo show concentrates on genres and themes, from the vast panoply of post WW2 music.
